The Champion Centre – Christchurch
The Champion Centre’s Musical Play Therapy programme recognises that each child has an inherent musicality, regardless of disability.
The programme engages children and their parents in playful activities that support each child’s individual developmental goals and gives parents strategies they can use at home to support daily living. Music is a powerful non-verbal form of communication which helps children to feel included and safe. Alongside the music therapists, the Centre’s entire team incorporate music into their actions and activities with tamariki.
The Champion Centre’s music programme attracts no government support and is provided free to our whānau, through the munificence of donations such as the MusicHelps grants.
